Week 4 Matchup of Valorant Challengers North America: Split 1 – G2 Esports vs Turtle Troop – Which Team Will Prevail?
Predictions-
Although they are a relatively new team, Turtle Troop (TT) is a strong contender for the upcoming matchup. With a positive match-win ratio of three wins to two losses and a talented lineup, they may pose a greater challenge to G2 Esports than expected. Peter “Governor” No leads the team, which also features skilled players mummAy, Add3r, TiGG, and Wedid.
G2 Esports, on the other hand, boasts a highly experienced roster that has already made a name for themselves on the global stage. Led by former Sentinels member ShahZam, the team includes skilled players such as dapr, wippie, penny, and OXY, making them a formidable opponent for Turtle Troop.
While G2 clearly has the advantage in this matchup, it’s important not to underestimate Turtle Troop, as they are steadily improving and climbing the leaderboards. TT has won all three qualifying matches for the NA Valorant Challengers League, only losing to top-tier teams like Shopify Rebellion and FaZe Clan.
However, G2 has been consistently dominant in recent matches, winning all three of their matchups in the main Challengers League event against FaZe Clan, Breakthru, and Oxygen Esports. This means that G2 will enter the matchup with strong momentum and consistent play, something that Turtle Troop currently lacks.
Turtle Troop bounced back with a recent 2-0 victory over Moist Moguls in the Challengers League main event. However, the win was not very convincing, as they only narrowly won 15-13 on Map 1 and 13-9 on Map 2.
Face-to-face
Since it is still early in the season, G2 Esports and Turtle Troop have never competed against each other in a professional esports event. Therefore, viewers can expect an exciting first-time matchup, although G2 Esports is heavily favored to win.
Other results
Turtle Troop’s professional experience has been limited to the NA Valorant Challengers League, where they won all three of their qualifiers against YFP Gaming (2:1), The Nation (1:2), and OREsports (2:0). At the main event, they won only one of their three matches, losing to Shopify Rebellion and FaZe Clan, but managing to win against Moist Moguls. Interestingly, they competed in the qualifiers under the name Squirtle Squad before changing it to Turtle Troop for the main event due to copyright issues.
On the other hand, G2 Esports started their Challengers League journey with a 2:1 victory over FaZe Clan, followed by two more wins against Breakthru (2:1) and Oxygen Esports (2:0). They currently hold the top position in the group and are likely to maintain it against Turtle Troop.
